1453 km hiked, less than 100km to go! It doesn’t seem real yet. I only have three days left of my adventure.
The trails are packed with raucous, joyful pilgrims fulfilling the 100km requirement to qualify for their Compostela certificate. It’s a pedestrian party that includes huge school groups of teenagers with chaperones and even a Taiwanese YouTube crew filming for a series.
I sometimes escape the chaos by taking alternative trails called Complementarios. They’re longer, but often quieter. Horreros, beautiful grain storage buildings, stand beside farmers’ fields and homes.
I was so pleased to hike into lovely Portomarín yesterday with Natalie and Justin from Australia, two of my favorite Camino buddies.
Highlight of today:
Meeting the same blind chapel host I met two years ago, a grumpy charmer. He gave me three stamps for my credential.
The weather is lovely and I’m feeling strong. My next blog post will be from Santiago de Compostela. 🇪🇸🥾❤️

Excelente! 🙌 🥂 ✨
The change in tone is a bit shocking to the system. Glad to hear that you are still finding reverence and joy. Please give Justin and Natalie a high five for me 🙌🏼
Love the alternative routes’ tranquility! You look fantastic, and like you’re thoroughly enjoying your final 100 km-Woohoo! You’re a rockstar! ♥️🤗🤩
